Festivals & Events

Connecting Southern Gold Coast manages and facilitates several key festivals and events on the Southern Gold Coast, which contribute over $63 million into the local economy each year. From sporting events to arts and cultural celebrations, the Southern Gold Coast is a hub for events that attract local, national and international audiences to this fantastic city.

Take a look at the signature events each year on the Southern Gold Coast event calendar.

COOLY ROCKS ON

Australia's biggest annual nostalgia festival, Cooly Rocks On, rocks through town every year in June. Attracting over 100,000 to the twin towns of Coolangatta and Tweed, the crowds come to revel in the nostalgia of everything 50s and 60s from rock 'n' roll to rockabilly and swing, as well as a host of live entertainment, dance competitions and classic cars lining the streets of the beachside suburb.

Retro markets, food stalls and fun keep the festival atmosphere rolling on as the Southern Gold Coast celebrates the typically quieter winter months with clear skies and sunny days - making it the perfect time of year to visit.

SWELL SCULPTURE FESTIVAL

For 10 days every September, Currumbin beachfront comes alive with larger than life sculptures by local, national and international artists for the annual Swell Sculpture Festival.

Crowds flock to the beachside hub to marvel at the wondrous displays, thought provoking pieces and interactive activities that make up this cultural event. It is a free, family-friendly festival and the introduction of children's workshops, live music and twilight walks to the festival program have made it a must-visit for all ages.
