Currumbin Valley’s annual cycling event, Tour de Valley, is back in 2015. On Sunday October 11 the event heads to the Currumbin Valley for the 36km Solo Time Trial, the Team Cycling Challenge (36km or 72km) and the Cyclocross.
The cycling challenge - now a popular annual event - replicates the Commonwealth Games course, and this year, the Solo Time Trial is expected to attract the leading riders in the country as they strive for the special added bonus of breaking the course record.
The Teams Challenge sees teams of five riders competing over 72km or 36km, and is a unique event for the Currumbin Valley, with a focus on ‘serious fun’, allowing competitors of all ages and abilities to take on the challenge in an all-inclusive environment.
Now in its fourth year, the Tour de Valley has continued to expand and will again play host to a cyclocross event held on a testing 2km circuit around the event precinct that provides exciting entertainment as riders tackle a variety of obstacles in this emerging discipline of cycling in Australia.
In 2015, the lineup includes a new exciting event, the Kirra Criterium Classic
speed race which will be held on Saturday October 10 through the main street of Kirra.
A new event, the Kirra Criterium Classic offers riders and spectators the opportunity to enjoy short circuit, fast racing, with the scenic foreshore providing a 1.2km ‘hot dog’ technical course. This iconic surfing location will host three divisions of races with great individual and team prizes on offer.
