Regional day tour operator, Southern Cross Tours, has created a new luxury coach tour that will take visitors through the picturesque Currumbin Valley and Tomewin Mountain as part of a Byron Bay route commencing in January. Targeted at the international inbound market, the Byron Bay, Bangalow and Green Cauldron Tour will transport tourists in a luxury, air-conditioned Mercedes van equipped to seat 16. The route will operate on two days a week (Wednesday and Friday) initially, with a view to operating daily tours. Travelling back from a half-day of activities in Byron Bay, the route will take tourists up through Murwillumbah and the Tweed Valley sugar plantations before returning home via Tomewin Mountain and the Currumbin Valley. This will be a great boost to local visitation, while helping to spread the word about our beautiful scenic destination to key international markets.

New Tourism Network for Southern Gold Coast

Posted on Tuesday, February 04, 2014
CSGC’s CEO Peter Doggett has proposed to launch a Southern Gold Coast branch of international tourism network, Skål, with interested parties meeting at the Currumbin RSL on January 21 to discuss the formation of a new tourism networking group for the region. A new Skål International branch is set to commence on the Southern Gold Coast. Around 40 local tourism professionals came together on January 21 at Currumbin RSL to express interest in forming a new branch. Skål is an Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals, encouraging a network of business and friendship around the world. Founded in 1932, today the organisation has approximately 18,000 members in over 400 clubs across 90 nations, with 21 clubs in Australia alone. CEO of CSGC, Peter Doggett, a longstanding member of Skål, said a local Skål branch would benefit the local industry and community. “Having a local Skål branch for the Southern Gold Coast will unite and galvanise travel and tourism operators from Burleigh south to Byron Bay,” he said. “You can see the world with Skål, travelling to Skål conferences, events and meetings in almost any country. It opens up tourism networks around Australia and internationally.” The group is expected to meet on the 3rd  Tuesday of each month at 7am for 7.30am start each month.
