The old Queenslander at the top of the hill opposite the Point Danger Lookout has had many reincarnations over the years, servicing busloads of tourists as a snack bar and ice cream parlour. But it’s not since owners Donna and Steve Archdeacon transformed the run down site into the Café d’bar restaurant and gallery eight years ago that it has become a local attraction in itself.
While they have a strong following including local world champ surfers and nearby residents, Donna says they also look after the needs of international tourists, short stay visitors from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth and day trippers from Brisbane. ..

Dr Kim Prescott, Veterinarian, is the owner of her third generation family business, the Tugun Veterinary Surgery on Golden Four Drive. Kim’s grandfather, Dr Charles (Charlie) Prescott worked as a vet on the Gold Coast, covering an entire area from Murwillumbah to Southport from the 1950s to the 70s. Following in his footsteps, Kim’s father Dr Robert (Bob) Prescott graduated as a vet and first began practicing at Nobby Beach, before buying the practice in Tugun in 1986. He stayed there for 24 years, handing over the reins to daughter Kim in 2008 before retiring in 2010. ..
