The famous ‘Singing Barista’ and owner or Groove Café at Tugun, James Park, is starting a new afterhours venture, with ‘Hidden’ wine bar opening later in June. The bar lives up to its name in speakeasy style, set up behind the Groove Café on Golden Four Drive.
The old Queenslander at the top of the hill opposite the Point Danger Lookout has had many reincarnations over the years, servicing busloads of tourists as a snack bar and ice cream parlour. But it’s not since owners Donna and Steve Archdeacon transformed the run down site into the Café d’bar restaurant and gallery eight years ago that it has become a local attraction in itself.
While they have a strong following including local world champ surfers and nearby residents, Donna says they also look after the needs of international tourists, short stay visitors from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth and day trippers from Brisbane. ..
The renaissance of Coolangatta is the hot topic on everyone’s lips, and joining the upgrade list along the beachfront stretch is The Surf Club Coolangatta, which recently underwent a $4 million makeover. The Club’s Manager of nearly 16 years, Bryan Jones, timed the renovations perfectly. ..
The Coolangatta Surf Club on Marine Parade, Coolangatta has completed major renovations as part of a $4 million upgrade that commenced last year. The new look club is very much open for business, with only minor cosmetics touches still to be complete.

The $60 million redevelopment of Showcase on the Beach at Coolangatta is well underway with the new look The Strand on track to open in November 2014. The new centre will feature a dining precinct on Level 1 with beach views, a full-size Woolworths Supermarket, and a small shops precinct with a unique range of specialty stores. ..
