Currumbin RSL sees the 100 year centenary of ANZAC Day as an opportunity to remember and revere all those who have served for our freedom from World War I through to current conflicts. Currumbin RSL CEO, Anne Stovin, has joined the Board of Directors of CSGC, commencing in February. Anne is a very welcome addition to the Board, having served in many roles at the RSL from event management to education and training, and joins the CSGC Board in time for the Centenary of Anzac in April 2015. ..
Don’t let age stop you from having fun – the Currumbin RSL’s South GC Community Hub has started a new group for Over 60s called ‘Forever Young’. From Monday morning golf at Tallebudgera to dinner at the Club with new friends, the regular weekly activities also include sessions on topics such as gardening and financial advice. Regular excursions and free seminars are also offered, and there is a great program already lined up for February. ..

One very special piece of memorabilia is now available from a project that began in 2012, when Senior Advocate Tony Hornby from the Currumbin RSL Veterans Support Centre (VSC) had an idea to commemorate the ANZACs and the centenary by capturing a catalogue of every cenotaph offering remembrance to our ANZACs. ..

Our first round of Small Business Training Workshops for Southern Gold Coast businesses wrapped up at the beginning of June. In all, around 20 businesses participated in the free 5-week course, which is a fantastic turnout for the initial program. Congratulations to all involved and we’ll be looking at running the program again soon with a fresh intake. ..
The Currumbin RSL has started a local walking group to improve heart health and as a way to meet new friends. It’s part of the RSL’s ‘Southern Community Hub’ initiative and meets every Friday by the Creek at the Currumbin RSL from 9.15 to 10am. Bring the dog, the pram, or use it as an excuse to escape from the office for an hour every Friday morning. ..
