CSGC invited 21 Southern Gold Coast accommodation operators to attend a joint discussion with Gold Coast Tourism on upcoming market opportunities, with a meeting at Currumbin RSL last week.
Gold Coast Tourism’s Manager - Member Services, Judy Burling, was in attendance, along with Lidia Latima, Manager - International Marketing, Asia & Middle East.
The focus was on opportunities for attracting the key inbound market of South East Asia to our region. Several positive outcomes were reached, including CSGC advocating for more focus on the Southern Gold Coast destination with famils through Gold Coast Tourism and Tourism and Events Queensland. An immediate outcome was achieved - with a South East Asian inbound famil scheduled to the SGC in November!
A discussion was also had around the recommendation of accommodation packaging opportunities with local experiences and attractions. A development strategy will encourage accommodation premises to work together to bring more South East Asian visitors to the region, given the quality of apartment-style accommodation, the proximity to Gold Coast Airport, and ease of access to local attractions, Gold Coast theme parks, and hinterland experiences.
Thanks to all who attended – some great outcomes were achieved. It would be encouraging to see more involvement from other operators to attend future discussions which will add benefit to our tourism businesses.
