The fifth annual Tour de Valley is back again in October, promising cyclists a challenging time trial ride through the picturesque Currumbin Valley on Sunday 9 October.
Taking cyclists along what promises to be the course for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, the Tour de Valley has become the signature time trial event for the region, attracting participants from all over South East Queensland and Northern NSW.
Making the weekend of cycling even bigger and better in 2016, the Kirra Criterium Classic will be back to excite crowds along the Kirra beachfront on Saturday 8 October, with several new events in its second year thanks to the support of local businesses, including the Tugun Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank and Timezone Coolangatta.
For the main event, teams of riders will compete within four different categories along the Kirra Foreshore. Riders and spectators can enjoy the short circuit, fast racing on a great 1.2km ‘hot dog’ technical course with close competition.
New in 2016, the Kirra Criterium Classic will this year host a Kids Balance Bike Challenge. Kids aged 3 to 5 years can enter the ride in the participation race on the 250m straight course along Kirra’s foreshore. Every child that enters will receive a small award for participating thanks to Timezone Coolangatta, and all are welcome to come along and join in for free on the day.
