Seniors Wanted for Gran Slam Project

Posted on Tuesday, June 04, 2019

Feros Care is calling for participants aged 70 and over from the Southern Gold Coast and Northern Rivers region who are interested in learning how to write and perform slam poetry.

Fifteen seniors will have a chance to be a part of the slam poetry revolution under the guidance of an expert poet and literary performer, David Stavanger. The project will consist of a series of poetry workshops that will teach aspiring word smiths to give voice to their ideas and experiences, culminating in a performance that will be captured on film and screened at a Feros Care bespoke event at Byron Writers Festival.

People with a declaration to make, a voice to be heard, an opinion to be penned – regardless of prior experience in poetry, are encouraged to apply. The Gran Slam project will give you the skills and platform to express yourself through prose and performance, and access to a wealth of knowledge that will ensure your final performance is a success.

The Gran Slam workshops will be held on the Southern Gold Coast and are free to attend.

Participants need to be available from 29 – 30 June and 13 – 14 July and will also be invited to attend a screening at the Byron Writers Festival on Thursday 1 August.

Gran Slam is a collaboration between Feros Care and performance producer Everybody NOW, an organisation that shares the commitment to smashing stereotypes and supporting communities to live bolder lives.

To apply, fill out the application form here and email it to info@everybodynow.com.au.
