A huge supporter of our Southern Gold Coast events, the Rotary Club of Currumbin Coolangatta and Tweed was once again on hand at June's Cooly Rocks On festival - and they've reported some incredible statistics around the consumption of food.
During the 2016 Cooly Rocks On, the most popular BBQ items were the sausage sandwich, steak sandwiches and bacon and egg wraps. They cooked up 160kg of gluten free sausages, 100kg of pre-sliced onions, 100kg of Rib Fillet Steak, 60 dozen eggs, 50kg of bacon, 160 loaves of bread, plus 1,300 Mission Wraps and a large quantity of MasterFoods sauces! Sourcing all their products locally, Rotary were fortunate to receive sizeable donations from some food companies, such as Mission Foods, MasterFoods and Tugun Fruit Market, just to name a few.
Considering the adverse weather on the first weekend, these figures virtually cover the food consumed just on the second weekend of the event. The Cooly Rocks On crowd can eat!
All their personnel are volunteers, and after product expenses, all the profit goes to their local charities. Thanks must go to the Rotary club, their volunteers and local businesses that supported these efforts.
The newly amalgamated club has also welcomed in a new president for the 2016-17 year, with Dr. Marian Crighton taking the reigns as Club President.
