Project Lift Takes Airport to Next Level

The development of the Gold Coast Airport is set to begin, following the approval of the project by the Australian Federal government in February 2016.

The $300 million expansion, titled Project LIFT (Let’s Invest For Tomorrow), will double the size of the existing terminal to not only allow for the increased visitors to the region for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, but for the future growth of the area.

Stage one of the redevelopment is expected to be completed by the end of 2017, and will include a three story extension to the southern end of the terminal, three wide-bodied aircraft stands with two new aerobridges, retail stores and cafes inside the terminal building and improvements to transport facilities.

The final stages of the redevelopment, which include two more aircraft stands and bridges, will be completed between 2018 and 2020.
