The Strand at Coolangatta is partnering with City of Gold Coast to bring the Level Up Youth Art Program to the centre in October.
The City of Gold Coast’s Level Up Youth arts incubator program aims to engage young emerging artists who are transitioning from school or tertiary studies to a career in the Gold Coast’s creative industries sector.
The program provides a three to four month residency opportunity to emerging Gold Coast artists between the ages of 18 – 25 which may include but is not limited to painting, illustration, photography, design, textiles, digital and multimedia works, film and animation, sculpture and jewellery making.
The facilitated program supports participants with an artist stipend, a studio space, business arts tuition and industry experience within the creative industry.
The space will provide a range of opportunities including:
- Studio space—for young emerging artists. Five artists to be engaged in the residency
- Art gallery—to showcase art works and hosted openings
- Venue to conduct community art workshops as part of a school holiday program
- Open studio and pop up events—to exhibit works, sell artworks and artisan items
The space is currently being fitted out and is expected to be open by early to mid-October with launch activities.
