Kirra Boardwalk Set for Major Upgrade

Posted on Thursday, January 31, 2019

Kirra’s iconic boardwalk will be closed to the public from May 2019 as it undergoes major upgrades.

Constructed in 2001, the 173m long boardwalk separates Kirra Beach and the Marine Esplanade. The project will involve the removal of the existing boardwalk to make way for a new and improved one.

The upgrade comes after the existing boardwalks durability and structural integrity was questioned as a high-use public structure.

Construction is expected to commence in May, with the project estimated to take around six months to complete.

More details about the upgrade can be found here.
