Gold Coast Skydive’s Archie Jamieson and Alana Bertram will be flying high as they gear up to compete at the Australian Skydiving Nationals in Victoria in March.
Defending their title as 2017 Australian Freestyle Skydiving Champions, the pair will focus their months of training on the upcoming competition to land a spot in the World Parachuting Championships happening on the Gold Coast in October 2018.
“We won the Australian Titles last year and were selected to go to the World Cup in Germany, but we decided we’d save up for training and try for the World Championships on the Gold Coast this year,” said Archie.
Archie and Alana recommenced training in September 2017 and went to Russia in October, training in wind tunnels with some of the world’s leading skydivers. Now they’ve got their sights firmly set on competing on the world stage at home.
“We’re fairly confident leading in the Australian Nationals, and we’re way better than we were last year, but it will be much more competitive this year with everyone trying to secure a spot at the home World Championships,” he said.
In order to qualify, the pair – who only formed their team, ‘Running Hot’ 12 months ago – will need to impress the judges in seven rounds of competition from 15 – 17 March at the Australian Nationals.
We wish them luck!
