Five Events Not to Miss in October

The Southern Gold Coast is gearing up as the place to be throughout the month of October, as the coastal paradise plays host to some of the biggest and most exciting events on offer.

Whether it’s family fun, sports or the arts, there is something to suit everyone.

1. Kirra Criterium Classic - Saturday 8 October, 2016

The Kirra Criterium Classic is back for a second year, with the thrilling speed cycling race entertaining crowds along the stunning Kirra Foreshore. New in 2016, kids aged 3 to 5 can take on the final 200m stretch of the Criterium course on balance bikes as part of the free Bike Power Kids Challenge. It’s all about participation and every kid will take home a medal and prize pack from Timezone Coolangatta just for having a go. This exciting event promises to be fun for all ages, encouraging all the family to give it a go and watch on as Australia’s best cyclists battle for the title.

2. Buskers by the Creek – Saturday & Sunday 15-16 October, 2016

Buskers by the Creek is back to wow audiences in 2016, with over 10,000 people expected to fill the banks of Currumbin Creek with colour, movement and music. The free annual event will make an even bigger and better return in 2016 with an eclectic group of more than 280 performance artists, fire dancers, sword swallowers, ukulele orchestras and acrobats showcasing their talents. An international menu to please all foodies will also be on offer, with well-known local restaurants dishing up their favourites with festival flair.

3. Coolangatta Gold - Saturday & Sunday 15-16 October, 2016

Coolangatta Beach will once again play host to the Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold, dubbed one of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports. The event has secured a spot on Australia’s annual sporting calendar and attracts athletes from across the country. The best of the best will take on either a 32.4km short course or a 41.8km long course, combining the skills of surf skiing, running, swimming and paddle boarding in the iconic Southern Gold Coast surf. And the action will be taking place on the sand too, with the Coolangatta Open Beach Volleyball competition on the same weekend – one of the most anticipated events on the QBVT calendar.

4. Superfest Live Roadshow – Wednesday 19 October, 2016

If high octane, loud engines and fast cars get your adrenaline pumping, the SuperFest Live Roadshow is the perfect event for you. Hosted by V8 Supercars, the free, family friendly event will take over Coolangatta’s Marine Parade for an evening of live music, FMX stunt displays, car shows, fire performers and endless entertainment in front of The Strand from 5pm. The heart pumping action will have everyone up and out of their seats in a night to remember.

5. Halloween Party at Timezone – Monday 31 October, 2016

Timezone Coolangatta will be hosting an evening of fun and games for all the family in celebration of Halloween. Held from 4pm – 8pm and for just $20 a ticket per person, guests will receive up to four hours of fun which includes unlimited access to standard and ticketed games as well as one game of Bowling, Dodgem Cars, Laser, Mini Rider, Typhoon, 4D Dark Escape, Jurassic Park and a show bag to take home.
