Phil Villiers, former Destination Tweed CEO, has been appointed as the new Festival Manager for Cooly Rocks On, effective from early July.
The Cooly Rocks On Committee received almost 60 applications for the job and shortlisted eight applicants for interviews in early June.
A unanimous vote saw Phil, a resident of Banora Point, selected for the job, based on his strong connection to the Southern Gold Coast and Tweed region, and the relationships he has built up over a long career with key tourism and event stakeholders.
Having worked as Corporate Sales Manager at Twin Towns for over 20 years, Phil’s association with the annual Nostalgia Festival dates back to the Wintersun days, and he has been a member of the Executive Committee of Cooly Rocks On since its inception in 2011.
Phil’s involvement in this year’s 2015 Cooly Rocks On was a great support to Acting Operations Manager, Jayne Henry from Aria Events.
The Cooly Rocks On Management Committee thanks Jayne for stepping up to the role at short notice and for all her efforts in the success of the 2015 event, and welcome Phil to the new post, wishing him all the best in this new venture.
