An estimated 85,000 festival-goers converged on Coolangatta, Kirra and Tweed for five days and nights from June 7 – 11, celebrating everything there is to love about the 50s and 60s during this year’s Cooly Rocks On™.
Rain affected the final day of festivities on the Sunday, however it didn’t stop the crowds packing the stages, venues, streets and stores over a huge weekend of festival fun.
Around 1,000 cars lined the streets of Coolangatta, Kirra and Tweed as 40 artists played across five outdoor stages, adorned with black and white chequered dance floors – much to the delight of the dancing community.
All in all, the festival received a big tick from stakeholders and emergency services for being incident free, and new highlights such as the Fireworks on the Saturday night proved to be a huge hit with festival-goers.
Cooly Rocks On™ will be back for more next year with the dates set for 6 - 10 June, 2018, including all the festival highlights, with music, cars, dancing and more.
