If you were anywhere near Coolangatta for the first 10 days of June – you couldn’t have missed Cooly Rocks On. 2014 was the biggest event in the 4 years that Cooly Rocks On has been running, and the streets and hotels of Coolangatta were absolutely packed with visitors reveling in the 50s and 60s festival.
Cooly has well and truly ‘rocked on’ for another year. The 2014 Cooly Rocks On Festival was held from May 30 – June 9 with events across Coolangatta, Kirra and Tweed Heads. The 10-day festival featured international headliners Slim Jim Phantom, and Swedish outfit Jack Baymoore and the Bandits, as well as Australian Rock n’ Roll legends the Delltones, and Frankie J Holden & Wilbur Wilde.
Over 1300 Classic, Custom and Hot Rod cars entered this year’s Cooly Rocks On, and were the highlight of the street parades and car cruises.
As usual, plenty of live bands, dancing competitions, markets and car displays kept the streets of Coolangatta alive throughout the festival.
The sunshine finally made it out for an extended period, and the crowds over the June Long Weekend were the best in the event’s history. Initial reports suggest the record target of 100,000 visitors was well and truly achieved.
It was a great 10 days for our accommodation providers in the Coolangatta precinct, and CEO Bob Newman said all the feedback to date had been positive. Feedback is still being sought, so if you want to have your say, email firstname.lastname@example.org
