Congratulations to Gail O’Neill on her election to the role of President of the Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce recently!

Gail takes over the role from outgoing President Barry McNamara.

The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organisation representing the businesses of the Southern Gold Coast area including Coolangatta, Rainbow Bay, Kirra, Bilinga, Tugun and Currumbin.

The Chamber is one of, if not, the oldest Chambers on the Gold Coast.

The Chamber holds formal meetings bi-monthly, as well as social functions throughout the year. As soon as the new membership form is available we will include a link under our Resources page to the form and encourage businesses in the region to support the Chamber and it’s work by becoming a member!

Australia’s Largest Surfboard finds a new home in Currumbin!

Surf World Gold Coast has, this week, installed its new sign to proudly mark the Gold Coast’s first Surfing Museum. The board once adorned the front of its makers shop in Mermaid beach, when the shop closed it ended up gathering dust in the garage of local legend Michael ‘Munga’ Barry! That is until the GCCC and SurfWorld Gold Coast expressed an interest in reviving this massive 24ft monster and giving it pride of place outside the Museum! Australian’s love BIG things… Currumbin welcomes its own Big Surfboard!!

This isn’t the only BIG board Nev has made before either. During the Quiksilver Pro back in 2005, Nev made a 12 metre (40ft) Surfboard that carried 47 people onto a small wave at Snapper Rocks and unofficially smashed the Guiness World Record.
